I was interested to look at Margeret Bourke White's work during the depression. It seems her most renowned work of that time was a collaboration she worked on with her husband, Erskine Caldwell, on the book "You Have Seen Their Faces" (1937).
Erskine Caldwell was a best-selling novelist so it was widely read and criticised.

The book was criticised for its left-wing bias and upset whites in the Deep South with its passionate attack on racism. Life Magazine said of her, "Margaret Bourke-White's social awareness was clear and obvious. All the editors at the magazine were aware of her commitment to social causes."
